Durham accelerator seeks startups with scaleable 'thingamajigs'

"Groundwork Labs, an early-stage startup incubator nestled in the American Underground basement at the American Tobacco Campus, is officially accepting applications for its upcoming fall session.

But John Austin, executive director, says they’re not just looking for any entrepreneur. The goal is to find startups with “scaleable” technology."

“The company has to have a market large enough that they can get reasonably large,” he explains. “There’s nothing wrong with small companies – they are the backbone of our economy – but if we were to help every company that had a chance to be five to 10 employees and hundreds of thousands of revenue – we would take many people.”
